Amateur Sommelier Aridus Wine Co. Syrah Review

Find the original post here.

Coming out of Arizona, this deliciously bold Syrah has a fruit forward taste with a nice tight gripping dryness that helps to hilight the earthier aspects. The aroma is subtle at first, but does open up with plum, blueberry, leather, sage, and cedar. The taste evolves from the aroma with cassis, baked plum, some baking spice, leather, licorice, oak, and a small amount of black olive. Instantly when the wine touches your palate, you get a lush fresh dark fruit that travels around your mouth. After a second or two, as the dryness begins to settle in, and the earthier flavors start to emerge to provide a nice contrast and brake up some of the fruit. There is an acidity that you would expect from a Syrah, but it isn't overwhelming or off putting. The dryness is thick and gripping, making your teeth latch to your lips. This is a calm Syrah, that gives you a well balance fruit forward taste, and a long lasting tasting profile as it evolves and focus on it's other attributes.
