Dark ruby in color with a reddish rim.
Fruit forward on the nose with black fruits, oak, light vanilla, licorice, tobacco and chocolates.
Full-bodied, smooth and buttery, with medium acidity.
Dry on the palate with black currants, cooked cherries, plums, spices, oak, licorice, tobacco leaf, herbs, light vegetables, peppercorn and chocolates.
Spicy finish with soft tannins and tangy raspberries.
This is a very interesting Cabernet Franc from New Mexico. Rich and elegant.
Good right out of the bottle, and gets earthier as it opens up, with more bitter vegetable notes.
Still young and needs a few more years in the bottle to mature. Would be nice to revisit it in 3 years.
Good by itself as a sipping wine. Nicely balanced, soft and smooth.
Aged in (25% new) French Oak barrels for 29 months.
14.5% alcohol by volume.
91 points.
