Del Rio Vineyards
June 30th, 2016
Opens with aromas of fresh raspberries and pie cherries, herbs de provence, and pencil shavings. The aromas carry through to the palate, where they’re joined by flavors of coffee and black pepper, with a core of light, silky tannins. The cherry persists through the finish. To achieve all this we blended blended four small lots— one of which bolstered the peppery notes, one which brought out the cherry, one that provided a little more tannic structure and color, and one that brought out the berry tones. Enjoy slightly chilled as a perfect summer red.
We sourced the fruit for this Pinot Noir from the Del Rio Vineyards in Cochise County/Arizona in 2014.
Food Pairing Notes
This wine pairs well with shiitake mushrooms, mild cheese like mozzarella, and pork.
